With a life expectancy of over 50 years, not a single drop of water will pass through these synthetic rubber flat roof membranes, making them an excellent-value alternative to a pitched roof.
Complete replacement of watertight flat roofs
At Roofline Design, we’ve been installing the standard-setting Firestone EPDM rubber roof system for over 25 years. More than one million square metres of this 100% cured single-ply roofing membrane have been installed at commercial, industrial and residential properties worldwide by Firestone installers like us.
This waterproof, watertight rubber roofing is an ideal solution for small and large flat roofs. Everything from extensions and porches to garages and sheds, at properties as diverse as homes, schools and warehouses.
We have dedicated flat roof teams who are able to install Firestone rubber to the highest standard. The very first site visit will always be carried out by a surveyor, not a sales rep. We will give you honest advice with no pressure, whether you’re planning a refurbishment in the future, or have an issue that needs fixing on the day.

The process
-
Step 1: Clear the roof off, (i.e. shingles, moss, leaves) and make the area ready for the removal of the felt.
-
Step 2: Strip off the existing felt and boarding on the roof. Inspect the roof area for damages or rotten joists and replace where necessary.
-
Step 3: Install the Kingspan insulation and 18mm tongue and groove OSB boards.
-
Stpe 4: Take care to remove all the debris and dust before laying the rubber. Lay out the rubber to rest, which will get rid of the folds and creases in the rubber.
-
Step 5: Roll back half the membrane and apply the water-based adhesive to the OSB boards. Slowly brush the rubber onto the adhesive area. Repeat with the other side of the membrane. For the edges of the roof, kerb trims and drip trims may be required.
Benefits of a flat roof
In addition to the exceptional life expectancy and weather resistance of Firestone Rubber Cover membranes, they require very little maintenance. The material will even stretch and expand to react to building movements.
There are also plenty of other benefits to a flat roof. Easy to install, and much more affordable than a pitched roof, flat roofs are much easier to access, and open up a range of opportunities – for example, an eco-garden.
Installation
Installation is carried out by our highly trained fitting teams. Once a quote has been agreed, we’ll carry out all of the work and tidy up after ourselves once we’re done!
The installation uses a cold-applied adhesive, which means no flames are required, making the entire process much safer. The roofing membrane can also overlay existing waterproofing, providing the decking below is fine.
